Charly Charney Cohen is a photographer and creator based in Los Angeles. Charly originally started their photography journey as a hobbyist in the Pacific Northwest, in need of ways to externalize memories and to share their various creative disciplines. As a community-minded artist it became a natural extension to do this for others as well.
Utilizing photography as a mindful practice and way of engaging with the world, Charly is enthusiastic about capturing stories and feelings through their lens. In their work, they hope to invite more opportunities for creative play and to elevate the beauty of the everyday.
Charly has taken photos for Adams Hill Neighborhood Association, Pick Your Poison Productions, Shakes on the Rocks, Last Call Theatre, Sante D’Or, and for short films “The Flower of Battle” and “Sunny’s Closet.” Some of their self portraits have been featured in GlendaleOUT’s queer zine, and their production/event photos have been featured in entertainment news publications including No Proscenium, Popverse, Nerd Reactor, and Glendale News Press. Charly’s nature photography has been featured at Adams Hill Arts Festival.
Charly can be hired to photograph productions and events, and always wants to take more portraits of cats.
Charly is also an actor and costume designer, disciplines which inform their approach to photography as a storyteller. In their free time, they enjoy playing tabletop games and spending time with small pets.
Charly is dedicated to making stories they love and are proud to be a part of. Please take a look at their extended portfolio, and feel free to contact them for any potential projects.
