purimCharly Charney Cohen is a costume designer and creator based in Los Angeles. Charly originally started their costuming journey with cosplay communities in the Pacific Northwest and then honed their craft through formal education at USC, where they studied costuming for their theatre degree and worked in the costume shop. Since then, they have done different types of costume work for various entertainment productions in the Los Angeles area.

With a deep understanding of the nuances of the craft and a passion for the transformative power of dress, Charly is enthusiastic about bringing stories to life through the art of costuming.

Charly’s notable productions include “That Long Damn Dark” directed by Jonathan Muñoz-Proulx, coming of age short film “Condoms and Cherries,” and the upcoming swashbuckling comedy short film “The Flower of Battle.” Charly has had the opportunity to learn from industry leaders such as Terry Gordon, Shawna Trpcic, and Erica D. Schwartz; and the pleasure of working with Disney costumers Jenna Bergstraesser and Lori Lee Costume Design.

Charly enjoys designing costumes for both film and theatre, with a particular passion for fantastic and whimsical projects.

Charly is also an actor and photographer, disciplines which inform their approach to storytelling and costume. In their free time, they enjoy playing tabletop games and spending time with small pets.

Charly is dedicated to making stories they love and are proud to be a part of. Please take a look at their portfolio and resume here, and feel free to contact them for any potential projects.
